The Natural Choice in Suffolk, Norfolk & Essex

Rockwool (stone wool) is made from molten volcanic rock spun into fine fibers. It is our preferred material for many insulation tasks because it offers a unique combination of benefits that plastic foam boards cannot match.

Unlike rigid foam which is flammable and chemically produced, Rockwool is non-combustible (fire safe), breathable (prevents rot), and excellent at dampening sound. It is dense and flexible, allowing it to friction-fit between timbers without leaving gaps.

Why Rockwool in Suffolk, Norfolk & Essex?

    Fire Safe

Rated Euroclass A1 Non-combustible. It withstands temperatures over 1000°C and acts as a fire barrier, slowing the spread of flames.

    Acoustic

The dense fibrous structure traps sound waves. Ideal for insulating between floors or internal stud walls to reduce noise transfer.

    Sustainable

Made from abundant natural stone and recycled material. It is fully recyclable and has a very long lifespan.

    Mineral Wool Insulation Questions

What should be checked before fitting mineral wool between roof rafters?

Check the roof covering for leaks, inspect the timber and existing insulation, and confirm how the roof space is ventilated. The available depth and construction affect the appropriate build-up; filling a gap without considering moisture movement can create problems. A visual check alone cannot establish the right specification, so assess the complete roof assembly before installation. Loft insulation is another option to consider where the floor is the relevant boundary.
