What should be checked in the floor void before work begins?
Check that airbricks and other ventilation paths are open, and look for standing water, persistent damp, decay, pests or damaged services in the void. Suspended timber floors rely on appropriate subfloor ventilation, so insulation should not block airflow or conceal an unresolved moisture problem. The installation detail must suit the joists and floor construction, with pipework and cables considered before access is closed.
