Woodworm is the larval stage of wood-boring beetles, most commonly the common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum). It is one of the most widespread forms of timber damage in UK homes, particularly in older properties across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex with suspended timber floors, ageing roof structures, and damp sub-floor voids. KDS Property Preservation treats active woodworm infestations in floor joists, roof timbers, staircases, and structural joinery across Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Colchester and the surrounding area. Call 01473 561 031 for a free inspection.

Signs of active woodworm include fresh cream-coloured frass (bore dust) around exit holes, bright clean-edged flight holes, adult beetles found on windowsills between May and September, and timber that crumbles or feels spongy when pressed. Professional treatment involves applying a permethrin-based insecticidal solution to all affected timbers, identifying and repairing any structural damage, and addressing underlying damp conditions that created favourable conditions for infestation. Treatment guarantees typically run for 20 to 30 years against re-infestation by the common furniture beetle.
